Up for sale is a used Fender Eric Clapton Signature model Stratocaster, in gloss black body finish. Serial No.: 6939506. This guitar is in very fine shape- in totally presentable, playable, and giggable condition. This is the Blackie-style signature model, but to be clear it’s not one of the Custom Shop Blackie reproductions (with the cigarette burns etc.)- it’s the production run signature model first introduced in 1988. It looks like the axe in the video from “The Color of Money” (but black instead of pewter). It’s one of the earlier releases; there’s a sticker on the back of the headstock that refers to the 1996 anniversary year. It regardless evokes a lot of the Blackie vibe, and is a fine guitar in its own right, boasting a lot of vintage appointments including a soft-V neck, vintage style tuners, and vintage style bridge pieces. What distinguishes this particular guitar, I think, is the neck. It’s the slickest, most comfortable, most buttery Strat neck I’ve ever laid hands on (I’ve played a few). I don’t know what gives it the feel, but it’s straight-up silk. It can help work up some speed if you want to go for a little shredding action. The neck is finished in a pretty light color, probably a little lighter tint than average. This is the smoother, more satin-type neck finish, rather than the more heavily lacquered one in recent years. The guitar color is in the classic black-and-white, tuxedo color scheme and again is in very fine condition. The high-gloss body shows few if any real marks. Held up to light, there might be random polishing swirls or smudges. The 22 vintage style frets are very fine with most or all of their life remaining. Currently no strings mounted- the old ones got dirty, I cut them off but then got distracted checking out different string sizes and types, and never got around to stringing it back up. The pickups are Fender Gold Lace Sensors. Which definitely sound Stratty, except they’re very quiet at almost any gain setting. Very lightly played- the guitar in fact doesn't show much sign of being played. At stage distance, it might pass for new. The guitar is a bone-stock Clapton with no added or modified features. Skunk stripe down the back, as you can see. One tree string on the head, as you can also see. Includes the Fender factory tweed hard case. Don’t have a scale to weigh, but it’s probably about average weight compared to your typical American Strat. Just a good-looking, Blackie-style workhorse that'll go for years on end for your Stratocasting purposes. Shipping indicated for mainland U.S. Happy to ship overseas using the eBay international shipping program. Many thanks. -Scott
