Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Thin Skin American Vintage Reissue '62 Jaguar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The "Thin Skin" series was very limited and the first run was only available from 2007-2008 from three select Fender dealers in the USA. Each custom color was extremely limited, and by many accounts fewer than 50 instruments were made in each color! This Jaguar features a "Thin Skin" Ocean Turquoise nitro lacquer finish along with the other notable features including a 9.5" modern Fender fretboard radius, 6105 fretwire and matching headstock. These guitars were truly the best American Vintage reissues Fender has ever offered, and this Thin Skin Jaguar is complete with the original hardshell case, COA, and factory paperwork. The guitar weighs in at 8lbs 8oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jaguar is dialed in to perfection with a fresh set of 11-50 strings and comfortable, low action.Tonally, this guitar delivers plenty of Fender sparkle and twang, and the electronics on this guitar are the same as seen on the standard run '62 American Vintage Jags. There's plenty of bite from the bridge pickup, which has more punch and top end content than other Fender single coils, given the 1 Meg volume and tone pots that let more signal through. The chrome "claws" that surround the pickups are also unique to the Jaguar, focusing the magnetic fields of the pickups and also providing extra shielding against unwanted single coil hum. The Jaguar was Fender's top of the line instrument when introduced in 1962, and it's one of the more feature rich guitars ever offered by the Fender company. Both Lead and Rhythm circuits have individual Volume and Tone controls, with an extra low cut switch on the Lead circuit for even more thinned out tic-tac tones. Finish things off with a flip-up string mute and you've got a very versatile and fun instrument! The neck has a medium C profile that's slightly deeper than a standard American Vintage Jag, and the frets retain their full factory height. There is light wear beneath the G string from frets 1-12, and fainter wear on the crowns beneath the B string from frets 1-7. The guitar plays cleanly in all positions with no buzzing or dead spots, and the slightly increased height and crown of the fretwire (compared to vintage wire) leads to easier bending and longer fret life. The back of the neck and entire headstock are finished in a thin coat of gloss nitro lacquer and the face of the headstock sports an immaculate "Fender Jaguar" decal over the Ocean Turquoise. The original Gotoh, Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well.On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, and the American Vintage '62 Jaguar pickups have all the twang, chime, and snap you could ever want from a Fender with a bit more output and midrange content than a true vintage pickup, which adds warmth and balance to the tone. The chrome hardware is also near mint, with a limited edition Fender neckplate as well. The vibrato tailpiece works extremely well for surfy shimmies or deeper dives and the arm collet has been adjusted so that the arm is just tight enough to stay put when you want it within easy reach. Even the often removed Fender Mute mechanism is intact.Cosmetically, this guitar shows some moderate wear and has been honestly played for nearly a decade. As such the very thin nitro lacquer shows buckle rash on the back as well as an assortment of smaller nicks and dings. There's even light vertical lacquer checking on the body and it really is starting to look the part of a genuine vintage example. This is easily one of Fender's most alluring custom colors and it has great saturation and a gloss sheen that contrasts perfectly with the mint guard and chrome hardware. Overall, the guitar looks great, is professionally setup, and everything works as it should! The original brown tolex hardshell case is included, along with the original certificate, factory paperwork and "ashtray" bridge cover.
