1970’S MANUEL CONTRERAS CLASSICAL GUITAR – ALL SOLID – VERY RAREHere’s a rare opportunity, a Manuel Contreras (1928-1994) classical guitar from the 1970s in great condition and signed by himself.Manuel Contreras was one of the great Spanish guitar builders of the Madrid school, inventor of the double top and double bottom. In the 1950s he worked with José Ramirez Terceiro at Ramirez workshop before settling himself in 1962.The guitar shows some signs of wear normal for the age, some of them easily removable with polish which actually is French polish, otherwise in perfect structural condition without cracks or twists.
This guitar may have been some unique model because it has an unusual construction - 4 part backs in Rosewood and mahogany sides, all solid. However this combination makes the guitar have an incredible sound with very good volume, presence, balance and sustain and a surrounding vivid tone.The guitar was completely revised, it took new frets and machine heads, a complete set-up was done with fret leveling and saddle tuning, the string height is only 3mm in the 12th fret, very easy to play.
