I thank you for keeping up on my auctions and sharing them with your friends and families. Your support is key to the survival of not only myself and my mom, but our feral cat rescue efforts.About this guitar:We have here one of my prized possessions as a guitarist for most of my life.If you are looking at this you most likely know what it is.. probably own or have had one. Ampeg famously joined with Burns of London in the early 60s and it wasn't long before this association changed to BoL and Baldwin.. so this was a short lived time for this model Jazz Split Sound guitar by Ampeg Burns in the U.S.A.I've had Baldwins as well, very similar if any difference I believe but I could be wrong. I never got into any technicalities between the two entities.. I just bought them if they played and sounded good. This does both well, very well. I get lost in space and time in my guitars. This one has lots of great mojo juice.. if you're into that. Hahaa! This guitar has a little electric crackling in the knob's contacts. If you work on guitars you know that a little contact spray on the wires will clear that up.. but I usually get rid of it by constant play. It works just as good.In fact, in the past few days it's greatly reduced from when I first broke it out of the dungeon. hahaa! No, guitar room, nothing terrible. Climate controlled, smoke free. The pick guard has a slight crack between the volume and tone knobs. It affects nothing.ALSO... the case lining. Up near the headstock side is all disconnected.. not ripped, just came undone and would need to be stapled or glued and the a piece on the front panel alongside the snappy box for accessories.. slides loose when carrying around. Nothing major.. I have pictures of it at its worst and it's an easy repair.. stapling, gluing.. whatever you'd prefer. Nothing affects the guitar.. it's just loose cloth.Other than that... what you see is what you get.A pure, nice playing, great sounding, classic vintage British made guitar.Brian May of QUEEN is famous for taking Burns TriSonic pickups from other model Burns guitars.. this has Burns Split Sound pickups. They are very different but can give a somewhat similar tone depending on which setting you are in and what sort of a rig you are running through. But always remember that Brian's sound is mostly from his touch and style of playing.. which is purely his own.Burns did a "Red Special" guitar in 2000 and they did a great job. Lots of tribute bands seek those out to get a nice close tone to play in the Queen tribute bands. Now, Brian's company sells basically the same guitar... so if that's your goal, I'd check into one of those.Back to this guitar though. As I was saying.. what you see in the pictures is what you are going to get. You have my word that it plays and sounds great. The whammy bar is set up different than standard.. I bought it this way... with the tailpiece off. That means it has been off the guitar for about 15 years, maybe more.If you want it on I would say to make sure the screws are going to go straight in, in relation to the cover itself. It might need a little bend to measure up due to lack of being on for so long. The jack works, no issues. The crackle has lessened with play.. I believe it will play out but contact cleaner can be bought and used to help get rid of it as well. I do not have any or I would do it for you... stuff like that costs $$$ which is pretty sparse for me lately.I do have many more pictures which I can send but if you have f b and know the Burns group and are in it... you can see them all there.Any questions?Be rest assured that this, as well as all my auctions, benefit the disabled and elderly (myself and my mom).
