The PRS Custom 22 differs from the Custom 24 in two ways: Number of frets (22 vs. 24), and, as a consequence of the shorter neck, the neck and bridge pickups are further apart, providing a bigger "sweet spot" when the pickups are used in combination.
I bought this guitar because of its looks. But I had always wanted a PRS, and bought a Custom 24 in 2000. When this Custom 22 became available in my local guitar shop in 2004, I compared the two using a Fender Twin, and confirmed the sweeter blues sound on the shorter 22. In addition, the placement of the neck pickup further from the bridge produces a smoother jazz tone when used alone.
The guitar is in excellent condition. It has been rarely gigged (I have 30 guitars), polished at least once annually, and kept in a climate-controlled room. I am selling now because I am retiring and selling my entire collection. (My children have no interest.)
