Fender US Mark Knopfler hot rod red body. Fender US 62 AVRI hot rod neck. Thick C. 9.5" radius medium jumbo. Nitro finish on both. Hardware from hot rod 62. Pups, bridge SD ssl5. Mid fat 50s mid. Neck fat 50s bridge (yes bridge pickup in neck) I bought a 62 hot rod in Sherwood Green and loved it but wasn't into the colour. I saw a knopfler body come up on ebay so I sold the Sherwood green body and bought the knopfler body. When I fitted it, the action was ridiculously high. When I looked closely, I could see that the neck pocket had been routed from front to back by about 1mm. I asked the seller about this and he said it had been done so that he could fit a warmoth neck to it. When he changed his neck and put a strat neck on it, he just used a shim. I tried that at first but it looked stupid - a 1mm gap is quite noticeable. I thought about returning it but knopfler bodies just don't come up that often. I spoke to a luthier and he suggested levelling the pocket so it was the same at the front. Apparently a lot of old strats aren't consistent in terms of neck pocket depth and 1mm would make no difference at all. I got this done and it fit perfectly and plays perfectly. You wouldn't actually notice it apart from the paint that normally covers the edges of the neck pocket. I got round that by putting some acetone on the part under the neck plate to melt the paint and put it around the neck pocket so it wasn't as noticeable.Pics will be going up shortly. I've also changed the neck plate and screws to really sturdy ones from wudtone. The plate is thicker and the screws are bigger. I did this because a previous strat I had, I stripped the threads in the neck so I always put these on my fenders now.You can see the green on the neck from the original body. You can just about make out a date stamp in the pocket but it's illegible. If it's really important, I could lift out the shielding in the body to see if there is a data stamp under there but I can guarantee that it is a fender knopfler body. At the time, I checked and could see that the seller got it from the Strosphere - I knew it was legit - you can tell by the smell!!! :)pots are top quality CTS. 300k vol 250 tones. It did have a .1 "book" cap in there but it was too dark so it's now a .047 Russian PIOCouple of minor marks on it. Also comes with the original case that the hot rod came inAny questions, let me know
