Up for sale, a 1968 Framus BL-15 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. 100% original and crafted by Framus in West Germany, this model is named for its endorsee/designer Bill Lorento (Bill Lawrence). With a thinline fully hollow maple body, multi-ply laminate neck and ebony fretboard, this guitar delivers a sound that is particularly round and clear through the pair of stock single coil pickups. The pickups are very sweet and bell-like with percussive cut that allows the guitar to be a particularly great instrument for strumming and fingerpicking. If you're looking to translate acoustic guitar parts to an electric instrument without losing the body and kick associated with an acoustic instrument, the BL-15 is a strikingly good choice. And at only 6lbs 14oz, this fuly hollow guitar is very easy on the back. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Framus with fresh 11-50 strings and accurate intonation. The V shaped neck profile is fairly slender and very comfortable and the ebony fretboard features original fretwire. The jumbo frets show light wear on the crowns of frets 1-5, with very little wear further up the neck. These substantial frets have been leveled and crowned somewhat low, but given the width of the frets there's still lots of life left and the neck is straight with a responsive truss rod and no buzzing or dead spots anywhere on the fretboard. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width with a zero fret, 21 frets total on the neck, and a 24 3/4" scale length. On the headstock, the tuners are a set of original Grover Rotomatics that turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The body features a unique electronics layout, with two tone controls labeled for Bass and Treble in addition to a Master Volume and three-way pickup selector switch. All of the stock hardware is intact including Framus' spin on the "Frequensator" tailpiece, which it etched with the "BL-15" model name. The original knobs, pickguard, pickup surrounds and roller bridge are also present. The binding on the body is notably yellowed, and the deep walnut finish shows moderate buckle rash on the back and some light scratches and minor scuffs in the nitro lacquer finish on the guitar as a whole, but overall this guitar presents very well.
