This banjo generated an amazing amount of interest the first time it was listed, but received no offers.  The same is happening again -- lots of interest, yet no bids.  My goal, of course, is to sell the instrument for its owner.  The opening bid is based only on values and selling prices of similar styles I have been able to discover by searching online. If interested in purchasing the banjo, please contact me directly and let me know what you think it is worth.  I'm very glad to consider any amount over the price the owner paid, and then will create a BIN listing just for you for an agreed upon amount.According to www.acoustudio.dk, this banjo, serial #5953, was manufactured in 1921.  Evidently, serial numbers from 5549 to 6512 were manufactured in that year.  That serial number is stamped on the side of the brace of the open back.  On the top of that brace is stamped: "BACON PROFESSIONAL FF (in diamond) 3"The banjo is 12-inches in diameter; approximately 31" long. The banjo is in extremely good condition.  Purchased in 1982 from Intermountain Guitar and Banjo in Salt Lake City, it was played once, then stored in the case for 35 years!Recently, in March, 2016, at MIT Music in Hillsboro, Oregon, the instrument was inspected, bridge was possibly replaced, strings were replaced and tuned. The finish of the wood is in wonderful condition, with no splits, only a few minor scratches or blemishes, and very slight crazing to sides and the veneer on the back. The Bacon logo, plus eleven decorative inlays on headstock, neck and heel, are mother-of-pearl.  Tuning keys are grained like ivory or bone.Case could be the same vintage as the banjo, however there is no indication as to year or manufacturer.  The exterior shows signs of use, including a taped-up handle.  The green velvet lining has faded to gold on one side, but intact.Although I do not play banjo nor guitar, when I pluck the strings the tone is very bright, clear and resonate. This banjo seems to be rather rare in the market place.  I will certainly consider all reasonable offers.ALTHOUGH I AM NOT AN EXPERT, I WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS TO BE BEST OF MY ABILITY.  RETURNS ARE ONLY POSSIBLE IF INQUIRIES ARE MADE PRIOR TO PURCHASE.  MY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ITEM IS NOT FIRST-HAND, BUT LIMITED TO RECENT ON-LINE RESEARCH.CONTACT SELLER PRIOR TO RETURNING PURCHASES.  COST OF RETURN SHIPPING IS NEGOTIABLE, DEPENDING ON THE REASON FOR THE RETURN. PURCHASES MAY NOT BE RETURNED AFTER 14 DAYS.  PAYMENT FOR BUY-IT-NOW AUCTIONS MUST BE MADE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.  ITEM(S) WILL BE SHIPPED WITHIN FIVE DAYS FROM THE PURCHASE DATE.  SHIPMENT WILL BE INSURED.
