Antique Henry G. Lehnert Philadelphia Centennial model tenor trombone patented in 1875. The bell is stamped “LEHNERT PHILA. CENTENNIAL.” All slides, valves, and valve caps move freely. The instrument is brass with German silver fittings. The instrument tunes to Bb (high pitch) but has slides long enough to tune Bb to modern pitch. This is a great playing instrument with a big sound. Overall length is 34 inches and the bell diameter is 9 ¼ inches. The reference photo, not included in this auction, shows a band with two centennial tenor trombones, a centennial baritone, and a centennial tuba. The tintype, not included in this auction, shows a man holding a centennial trombone.
