This Gibson 1919 Whiteface Mandolin instrument is rare, beautiful and very cool. The Ivory Whiteface look with white pick guard will add character to your image as a Mandolin picker. The instrument has the original case, and includes a strap. In addition, there is a custom A model Mandolin Tone guard that is similar in type as used by David Grisman, Ricky Skaggs, Mike Marshall and Andy Statement with their vintage mandolins. This tone guard makes a big difference in the sound as it enables the instrument to project its tone vs so much tone being absorbed as it sits agains your body/clothes. It can be removed and is constructed/designed not to interfere in a major way with instrument cosmetics.I have loved this instrument for the more than 30 years I have owned it and it has been well cared for; I hate to sell it tho i have a few other vintage instruments. It is a great sounding instrument with a beautiful pick guard that is not found so often on Gibson whiteface mandos still in action today.
