Vintage Ton-Klar Lewis and Son "The David" 16" Viola and case. I've had this viola since 1989. A good German viola bearing the label “TON-KLAR, The David made in GERMANY expressly for WILLIAM LEWIS AND SON CHICAGO, ILLINOIS”. Not dated, but likely made in the mid-1970s . The two-piece back is of maple of medium figure, the table is of spruce of narrow grain. The varnish is of a light red-brown on a golden base. Back length is 16”
