WICHITA BAND INSTRUMENT COMPANY

Wichita, KS 67211
Tel: (316) 684-0291; FAX (316) 684-6858 Boosey & Co. E-flat 4-valve Compensating System tuba made in England in 1904. NOTE: New information confirms that the tuba is about 8 years newer than we originally thought, made in 1912. Please see below! This instrument is a consignment from a long-time customer who is now down-sizing his interesting low brass collection. It's an early Boosey & Co. Eb tuba with 11 5/8 inch bell, full compensating system with four valves (three upright, one on the side in now-familiar English style). Engraved on the bell "SOLBRON" / (Registered) / Class A / TRADEMARK / Boosey / Compensating Pistons / BOOSEY & CO. / Makers /295 Regent St / LONDON / 85834. The tuba has been repaired and maintained to be playable. The valve pistons are copper plated with many worn spots, but are still fairly tight in the casings. The leadpipe is solid, not damaged, and without any severe corrosion. Tuning slides all function properly. While the tuba actually looks very respectable in general, there is considerable evidence of old repairs and several spots in the silver plating that are worn through to the copper plating underneath. The brass "ball" in the middle of the bottom end bow has been removed to make the tuba more comfortable to hold and play. The mouthpiece receiver fits a standard large shank trombone/euphonium mouthiece. A good Bach 5G is included. Also with a very good, almost new hard case with wheels that fits the tuba like it was made for it! NO WARRANTY on this one, but the tuba is complete, mostly original, and playable. A 112 year old survivor from a legendary English maker! Not for everyone, but perfect for British brass band or other ensembles requiring an Eb tuba. Flat rate shipping within the 48 states is $125. Please contact us for shipping quotes to other locations or international shipping. Please see more photos at the bottom or our listing, including original documentation on this exact instrument from the Boosey & Co. cataloque production records! *************************************************************************************************************************** Wichita Band Instrument Company is a small musical instrument emporium located in the center of the USA.
