Besson BE982-2 EEb Tuba – Silver Plate (used instrument)Serial number 111000904 Product Description The Besson Sovereign BE982-2 EEb is a professional-grade compensating tuba. In 2005 Besson ceased manufacturing tubas in the UK and the production moved to Germany. The tubas have been made there with huge success ever since and as they remain very new we have not seen many second hand versions. The German version is slightly larger in bore size than the original UK version and physically of very high quality. This instrument was manufactured in 2011/12 purchased in 2012 from new by our customer. Unfortunately she has had an operation and can no longer manage a tuba so we purchased it back. She is the only player and has loved and cared for the instrument. She was most reluctant to surrender it.It plays very well and is a good example of the new Sovereign production. Unlike the pre-2006 models, all the parts remain available, so it will be easy to maintain and should retain a high value. The tuba plays very well; hopefully you might have the chance to come and test it in store. Should you wish to compare this with our brand new Besson tubas you would be welcome, or if you require a price comparison simply send us a message. Condition Description As with all of our instruments, the tuba has been serviced and tested by our brass technician to ensure that it is fully functional and plays well – the pistons and slides are clean, and their action is smooth. The cosmetic condition of the tuba is excellent - being relatively new. As shown in the photos, there are a few small dents (one on the bell, one on the bottom bow and one on the mouth-pipe), and there is some scratching on the bottom bow. The surface of the instrument is covered with micro scratches, consistent with four years of careful use. Any accessible dents have been removed, not that there were many for the technicians to work on. The mouth-pipe had a significant dent, in that it was noticeable, but did not affect the air flow. This has been removed and if you look closely you can see where it was.Otherwise the condition is impressive. The silver plate remains intact and excellent. The case has been little used, and all the working parts function well; there is some small wear on the external stitching and scuffs by the wheels; but it all remains sound; the wheels and drag handle are fine. None of this wear is obvious. It is generally clean and tidy and without odour (the previous player was not a smoker - not lived with one).
