Vintage Ludwig Blue Oyster Pearl Super Classic Drum Kit - Pre-Serial 1962This is a really lovely set of vintage Ludwig drums. There's a few issues but the drums tune up fine and sound like only a vintage Luddy can!There's only one date stamp that we can find, which is March 28th 1962. The three drums have been together a long time and the blue wrap is now a lovely grey/green colour. All three drums are similarly faded.Bass Drum 22" x 14" - the main issue here is that at some time damage has occurred to one of the bass drum lugs that has caused the need for the shell to be repaired internally. We reckon it's most likely had a bang on its travels and the lug was pushed into the shell. The repair is excellent, it is hardly noticeable externally, and internally is very well finished. There is no detrimental effect on the sound of the drum at all.Bass drum chrome has some pitting but is generally in great condition, and there are surface scratches and scuffs on the wrap from use. There's a couple of splits in the wrap which are hard to see and don't affect the shell. There's is a small chip in the wrap in one place which has been coloured over. Hoops have been repainted and the drum has a clear varnish finish internally which we think was factory applied. Original rail mount in fully working order.Rack Tom 13" x 9" - this is in great shape with just a few scuffs and a little rash here and there. Some pitting and scuffs to the hoops. Original dampener present and working.White painted interior.Floor Tom 16" x 16" - the drum is in very good shape, original dampener present and working. There are surface scratches to the wrap, and there is a bit of corrosion to the floor tom legs. White painted interior.Overall these look and sound fantastic.
