Description

Rarely seen in the UK. I am selling this treasured Marlen Pedal Steel because I will never learn to play it properly and it should be played. Manufactured in 1971 by the Stadler Music Company (see plate in pics) and totally refurbished by Bennett Steel Guitars in 2004, I purchased the guitar back in 2008 and it has hardly been used since, kept in tip top order though, up and out of the case. It is a beautiful looking instrument with excellent featured inlaid woodwork and polished steel fittings. The pulling and changing system is as seen in the pictures. I have no idea of the science involved but all the pedals and knee levers do what they are meant to do and whilst I have only really ever played the E9th neck everything functions on the C6 and the tuning is fine. 8 pedals 4 knee levers.  It has the original case which is a bit battered which I guess a 1971 case would be! I am throwing in a very high quality tone bar a top quality Ernie Ball Volume pedal  and a bunch of tutor books and chord charts.  This is a serious bit of kit and musical history. I have no idea how it got to be in the UK and when it arrived but it is a very rare and beautiful beast which requires serious consideration and application. Which is why I feel I must part with it. Please don't waste my time though, I am not desperate to sell and you shouldn't think about buying this unless you are really convinced that you want a pedal steel guitar in your life. If you are and you play it well there can be few things on earth which sound more beautiful!  It weighs over 30 kilos in the case so if you want it sent, it will cost you whatever the cost is to send it. So that's about it. The guitar would probably benefit from new sets of strings as they have not been played in a while. I don't want to part exchange anything. If you have any questions or specific enquiries please feel free to contact me. Phil
