This model is solid wood; spruce top, highly flamed maple back and ribs, real purfling and a hand rubbed low gloss varnish finish. The back is two-piece book matched maple. All fittings are made from ebony. We import these fine instruments from Asia and then completely rebuild them in our shop to the highest specifications. Fingerboards are recut, pegs are recut, new nuts, buttons, new strings and new bridges are made to bring out the best in each instrument. This viola comes with a deluxe pernambuco silver wound bow with Parisian eye and real Mongolian horsehair, a deluxe case with hydrometer and a full in shop Warranty. This is a different design than our other deluxe varnished viola . These highly flamed violas play with a sweet clear tone. Could easily be used professionally and continue play better and better with time. This has been one of our most popular violas for advancing students and semi-professionals. There are many great looking violas selling online for less, but our own set-up is what makes these instruments spectacular! We also give a 72 hour ToneRite treatment on all our solid wood instruments in our showroom and home(incl my daughters $15000 upright, Taylor 714 CE, Les Paul Custom and a Strat).You will see an amazing change. We did a blind experiment with 2 identical cellos, 2 Epiphone Masterbilt acoustic guitars and 2 identical upright basses. After 72 hours, my 6 technicians, myself(I'm a luthier) and 5 customers unanimously picked the 3 instruments that ha a ToneRite treatment. Many years ago, my father, Don Russo who was a very well known luthier and musician would take wood instruments to the basement & blast radios. There's 2 violin custom shops that have vibrating tables.
