On the auction block is a used and very well cared for Telefunken V72s 2 Channel Microphone/Instrument Pre-amp rack module made by AMI/TABFUNKENWERK (Serial #302). This unit is about 11 years old (bought around 2005) and has made some wonderful easy on the ear recordings, vinyl to digiital interfacing, just nice pristene audio output. Very pure analog signal processing. The unit has very few marks and a small amount of rack rash on the bottom. On the front, the input gain range is -6dB to 60dB. The X and Y (1 & 2) both have a +48V source switch, Phase Polarity switch, 80Hz roll off filter, and DI input for instruments or unbalanced devices. On the back there is a ground lift for each channel, a 100 Ohm switch for Y channel, and a 100/600 Ohm switch for both X and Y channels. According to Oliver Archut (engineer/designer), these impedance switches compensate for the different impedance values which occur from studio to studio. These can be set to which ever impedance value provides the optimum for operational performance and integrity. This device has been fully tested. It powers up, and all the LED lamps light when front panel switches are engaged. The gain pots are detented and each step is smooth. Peasantly surprised there is no crackling when turning the pots and stepping through the gain levels. The last time this preamp was used was about 2 years ago and has been in safe rack storage since then. Whether using for microphone or DI still sounds smooth as great as new. Then why is this piece being sold you may ask? The small project studio using this (and other devices) has closed down and there is no more need for it. This preamp is quite RARE and only one of several hundred hand built by Oliver, all the way down to the Alnico hand made transformers, before he passed away several years ago. The later units more than likely dont measure up to the quality and reliability of this one. Archut was quite eccentric about his work. Really hate to see this go! PAYMENT, SHIPPING & TERMS: DOMESTIC: $50 shipping/handling flat fee through PayPal. Other methods available too so please inquire. INTERNATIONAL: $150 shipping/handling flat fee through PayPal Only.
