NOS valves included Here is my hand wired all turret board construction made in Australia 5E3 Deluxe amplifier, 3 week build time. About ROLA Australia ROLA Australia has been operating and building broadcast and recording equipment in Adelaide since purchasing the Company, stock and trademarks in 1996. Part of the company principal is to purchase and make as much as possible locally. About the only products imported are pots and sockets. The Amp This is a standard 5E3 build all hand built using point to point wiring and Bakelite turret boards. Resistors are mainly vintage IRH made in Australia in the 50's and 60's capacitors are polyester with SEMCO silver mica's an options. The output transformer is a hand wound ROLA, the mains transformer made in Australia. All valves are NOS mainly Philips from the Hendon works South Australia. The chassis is NC punched by BIC industries Adelaide (a great company to deal with and who make all ROLA Chassis and metalwork for us) chrome plated silk screened locally. Every amp is burned in for at least 4 hours before assembly into the cab. Output impedance is 8 ohms, dual input channels with individual volume controls and a single tone control. The Cabinet Is made from ply and tolex covered with a single 12" speaker cutout. The carry handle is made from Australian cow hide, hand stitched by a retrenched ex RM Williams employee, who also makes all of my JTM45 covers by hand. The Speaker Back in early 2000 I invested about $20K to remake some of the original ROLA Speakers from dies and patterns that I purchased, 100 speakers were made and at that stage I sold 4 of them. These were not well marketed and at the time no-one was interested in vintage 70's speakers. The ones produced were the 12UX50 and the 12PEG guitar speaker. The speaker installed in this amp is a NOS one from that batch of speaker produced and sold in 2000. ROLA Australia and Celestion from the UK have had a great working relationship that went back to the 50's. Last year ROLA started to use Celestion speakers in all of our amplifiers and still sell the Celestion 8-15 as a great speaker upgrade to fender champ amp owners. Following a series of tests by my amp guru tester's I have been encouraged to use my NOS of 12PEG speakers in both this amp and my soon to be released version of the Princeton next month. The 2000 12PEG uses the same cone and frame as the 70"s Plessey/ROLA 12PEG but uses an upgraded ceramic magnet from the original. The entire stock remaining of 96 speakers will be used in all of my combo amplifiers until sold out. On request I am happy to personally sign, date and number each speaker for you. To my knowledge the 12PEG is the only entirely made in Australia speaker made in the last 20 years. To be released very soon will be a new guitar speaker due to popular request the 6PEG which is made for ROLA in Hong Kong at a very affordable price, this will replace the Celestion 8-15 and will come with a free 8" to 6" adapter plate on request, to enable it to be retrofitted in cabinets with an 8" speaker cutout. By far it is my opinion that this speaker will form the next generation of valve amp speakers. It will come in 2 varieties the standard 6PEG and the high sensitivity 6PEG which has 6db more acoustic output by using a ceramic magnet 4 times the size of the standard 6PEG. This is ideal for 5-10 watt SE valve guitar amplifiers. The standard 6PEG is rated at 25 watts RMS the high sensitivity version 15 watts RMS.
