Superb pro-quality double horn by PAXMAN (London), model  20LND serial number 48717 made in England in 1977.  Full nickel-silver construction, detachable bell flare.  Original rotors are still very good, showing minimal wear, appear to have NEVER been acid-dipped.No thin spots, no major dents, ever.  Minor bell dings burnished out in our shop.  It’s now in fine original condition with suggested retail price in England now something near $11,000.  This is an unusually fine example and we have full history of the horn since it was new.  Previous owner was principal horn of the Nice (France) Symphony.   Not for everyone, but if you’re after a superb horn that’s in very good original condition, this one’s for you!  $6850.   The small English team of master technicians at Paxman Musical Instrument Company produces about 100 superb French horns each year. Paxman has two facilities to serve horn players: the London retail showroom near Waterloo Station takes care of repairs and responds to technical and other inquires. The hand-building of Paxman horns is in the workshop in Staplehurst, not too far from Folkestone and Dover. We’ve been the American agent for Paxman instruments for decades and have an excellent relationship with them. Virtually all Paxman horns are “made to order” and even though the time of delivery can be six months or longer, we always have a selection of Paxman doubles in our warehouse. This means that both the F and B-flat sides ARE the same size, and additionally as Paxman says on their own website: "As the valve rotors turn in sympathy with the air stream, not against it, so slurs and legato passages are beautifully smooth." Wichita Band’s service warranty is the same as it’s been for more than thirty years: ALL new and all used instruments sold by Wichita Band Instrument Company come with our 24 month service warranty. It’s in addition to any factory guarantees. For two full years, we will repair or replace, whichever in our estimation is the more advisable, pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge to the customer. The customer is responsible for shipping and insurance charges. Cases and plating finishes are not covered by our service warranty but are sometimes covered by factory guarantees. Wichita Band’s service warranty does cover dents and dings to your instrument. If your instrument sustains damage to the body, end bow, neck, slides or bell, we’ll burnish out the dents and make it look like new again. The cost you is absolutely nothing except for shipping and insurance charges. Wichita Band Instrument Company maintains a repair department capable of restoration work of the highest quality. Even though repairs are essentially “free” for the first two years, after that period has expired, we remain at your service to maintain and repair your musical equipment forever.
