Up for auction is an overhauled Fox Renard Model I Wood bassoon in nice condition with a brand new protec case and all new pads. The Model I was the first model of Fox bassoons developed by Hugo Fox modeled after his personal Heckel bassoon. These instruments are hard to find and still play very well. This high quality Wooden bassoon is made in the USA by Fox, one of the premier bassoon makers in the world. This instrument includes standard keywork plus High D keywork for full range. They are known for having a great dark sound and are one of the most affordable professional bassoons on the market. A new Professional grade bassoon from fox is now over $20,000. Now, you can have a Fox bassoon for a fraction of the cost. We have just finished overhauling this instrument, and it is now in great playing condition with all new pads and tenon wrappings. It plays cleanly and evenly up and down. The Wood finish looks wonderful and is in excellent condition for its age, but shows wear in several locations. The keywork was also buffed, and tenons rewrapped. It is ready to go and will last for years. The plating is a beautiful nickel metal, but has some spotting on the plating, which is only a cosmetic issue. A Fox CVX Bocal is included with this instrument. Cosmetically, this instrument looks great from an audience perspective, but there are still some imperfections on the finish on the wood, mostly henpecks a few some chips in the lacquer that are highlighted in the photos below. There is a repaired chip on the bass-bell joint tenon, but this does not affect the playability of the isntrument. That said, the photos speak for themselves. This instrument plays great, and looks great. The case is a nice hard Fox case. Also included is a silk swab, seat strap, hand crutch, and reed.
