King 2220 "British Brass Band" Bb Shepherd's Crook Cornet

I am a long time trumpet player and former band teacher. I play trumpet and cornet with a municipal brass band still, and for my own satisfaction. I have collected brass instruments for years, and I own a few a fine instruments.  I have been in municipal bands wherever I've lived ever since.  Usually, I just enjoy sitting in the last section of the cornets, but a few years back, we lost our Eb player in the local Brass Band I play in, and I decided I'd move up.  After trying what I had in my collection, I realized I needed a better horn for this HIGHLY EXPOSED position, I bought a bunch of Eb's (and a couple of D's, I dunno!) and I have settled on the Schilke E3L and now desperately need to pay off the Paypal bill! THIS IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT I HAVE EVER OWNED!  It lists for nearly $2000 at the large scale discount music houses, and is well worth it!

The serial number on the second valve set is 823XXX and the model is 2220.  This instrument is a very close copy of the Besson Sovreign cornet which is the world standard for British Style Brass Band playing.  It is just plain stunning, it's compact size fits easily in your hand, and it is even engraved inside the bell and halfway up the flair!  There are spring loaded first and third slide triggers.  CONDITION: This instrument is in functionally and cosmetic very GREAT condition, I would rate it near mint, except the first slide trigger saddle appears to have been resoldered.  Otherwise it has no dents, scratches or other flaws that I can find.  Valve compression and slide fit is very good.  It plays as nicely as it looks, but be prepared, it is not quite like a flugelhorn, but it will not not be able to power through brilliant trumpets, unless and perhaps if you have a shallow "screamer" mouthpiece.  But that isn't what this horn is about.  It delivers the clear, dark sound you need in British style playing.  I'm selling it because I have a LOT of cornets, and need to make enough to pay off the bill on the Schilke Eb I got for brass band playing!CASE: A new Ravel case, sturdy but lightweight and laid out for shepherd's crook cornets, is included with this horn, and is in new and unused condition. MOUTHPIECE: I am including a new King 5B cornet mouthpiece (I did test it once to be sure it had the tone needed for this type of horn).Shipping: Shipping in the continental US will be FREE.  I will ship to some other locations, outside the 50 US states will be through EBay's Global Shipping Program. WHY BUY A QUALITY ASSURED INSTRUMENT FROM AN EXPERIENCED SELLER SUCH AS MYSELF? I am an experienced trumpet player, collector, and teacher. I have collected, repaired, and played trumpets for over 48 years. As a knowledgeable and experienced amateur, I have a lower cost of operation than a commercial enterprise, and can keep my costs low. You can see from my eBay rating that I have been careful to insure that I only supply quality instruments, and inspect, prepare, and describe them properly. I have thoroughly inspected this instrument, replaced the felts and corks and aligned the valves as needed, and made sure that it plays properly, and has proper tone for your beginner.
