Shin-ei Resly Tone Vibe Pedal
First there was the Psychedelic Machine, where the Shin-ei vibe and fuzz circuits were born as one. Those two effects were then separated into the Shin-ei Resly Tone and Super Fuzz. Then came the Uni-Vibe, making the Resly Tone the first Shin-ei vibe pedal. There have been countless copies, but nothing sounds like an original Shin-ei vibe. Check youtube to hear the amazingly fluid tones of original Resly Tones, Uni-Vibes and Vibra-Choruses.Shin-ei vibe pedals are very rare and seem to appear for sale less and less often these days; the Resly Tone is arguably the rarest and appears the most infrequently. Here's a chance to grab one, and for less than the price that Uni-Vibes command these days. This example sounds as good as Shin-ei vibes get. It's in beautiful condition and in 100% working condition (my tech recently checked it out from top-to-bottom and it was, as expected, in perfect operating condition). It was converted from 220 to 110 volt operation at some point in the past and has a power cord to match. Here's an excellent description of the history, operation and sound of the Resly Tone:"The vintage Shin-ei Resly Tone RT-18 is one half of the famed and renowned Companion Psychedelic Machine designed by Fumio Mieda in Japan (Shin-ei/Companion/Honey). It is in fact the "Mood" section by itself. The "Duet" named setting on the Psychedelic Machine was given the name "Resly" (from "Leslie") for this pedal box issue, after the dual circuits had been separated and remade into individual phase/vibe and fuzz effects. The RT-18 Resly Tone was first introduced around 1969 and made in small numbers into the early 70s.
"This Resly Tone was also in fact the first version of the later widely renowned Uni-vibe. The same Shin-ei circuit was rehoused and marketed in the USA under license as the Univox Uni-Vibe, and was also sold in Europe under the name Jax Vibra-Chorus. All three models contain essentially the same circuit, and all three were built by Shin-ei Companion in Japan. The only differences between the models is in the layout, control designs and casing. The Resly Tone also featured an included switch in the circuit to allow a straight Tremolo volume pulse effect in addition to the pitch bending Vibrato and Resly settings."The "Resly" effect setting corresponds to the "Chorus" setting on the Uni-vibe model, and is the signature sound of the circuit. The Uni-Vibe became the most well known of the three model names, and was produced in much greater numbers. As a result, there are nearly always one or two Uni-Vibes on eBay at any one time. Univox used a number of original Shin-ei circuits in their pedals, including their Uni-Fuzz and Super Fuzz effects."The pedal will be carefully and thoroughly packed, and it will be insured for its final sale value.
