I've built app 30 or so of these Hammond M3 chops. I've got really good at it in the process. these organ weigh app 230 lbs. they cost an average of $300-$400 to ship in the US.
these organs are really good for the person who wants the Hammond B3 sound without the cost, the weight, the bulk ect. all the Hammond M3s were built in what I feel were the best years of Hammond organ production, in my way of thinking, there was never a bad M3 built. M3s have the exact percussion sound of the B3, the vibrato is not exact but similar settings as the B3.
I've added a complete upper manual foldback to the upper manual, this is critical in getting the M3 to produce drawbar setting like the B3 can. these add app 60 tones in the upper register and make a world of different when you use the higher drawbars and play on the uppermost two octaves of the keys.
I've used this organ in a band and got very good compliments on its sound. Please note the stand and dolly the organ is sitting on is not included
this organ has been rebuilt, meaning. I've rebuilt the power amp, replaced all the electrolytic capacitors. a few resistors. checked all the tubes with my great Hickok 539B tube tester and used only good strong tubes. new power chord. Key action restored and plays great w no sloppy noisy keys.
I've rebuilt the scanner, this is what causes most vibrato problems, a rebuilt scanner should last app 20 more years or so. I've built this organ so you have a volume knob, you can see it to the left of the vibrato switches. I can add a volume pedal instead of the knob for $60 more. this organ is equipped with a 1/4" out for a keyboard amp or Fender amp or whatever, I've also added a hot output for a Leslie like a 147 or 122, this is just a signal out, an actual Leslie hookup is from $125 to $175 more.
as you can see this has some artwork I paid a guy to do, this is a little tribute to the city of Los Angeles. I can custom build you a chop M3 and pretty much make it any color you want,, and I also can do all kinds of extras. like detachable legs ($150) removable cover to protect the keys ect ($125) Left hand bass on lower manual, also call lower manual octave lowering($75) and if you really want some monster left hand bass I can tap into the bass pedals, this is a serious operation though and cost $250 alone.
please visit my website at hborganservice.com to see some of my past projects, I also chop Leslie speakers to go along with these chopped M3s, they start around $950 and go up to around $1200 depending on what kind of amp I use,
I am also opening a shop near downtown Los Angeles so if you're coming through and want to stop by to check out what I do please email or call directly Harold 626 217 4832
