CONN 4 VALVE BBb TUBA The instrument being sold is a 1950’s CONN tuba having the famous Conn short action valves with assymetric valve spindles making it fast and easy to play. It is the personal instrument of the seller who is a Professional brass repairer. It was completely restored and re-plated about four years ago by the seller and is currently being used by him in a British brass band. As can be seen from the pictures the tuba has two detachable bells. The upright {seller made} fibreglass bell was moulded from a Conn brass upright bell and contrary to certain prejudices the difference in sound between the brass and fibreglass bells is virtually indescernable . The fibreglass bell is stronger than its brass counterpart which can roll over at its edge should the tuba be stood upright on the bell. The tuba is classed as a 25J with the upright bell. This fibreglass bell is provided with a gig bag. The additional ‘’Recording’’ brass bell is as the seller bought it and is in need of restoration mainly de-denting. This the seller would do for a negotiated price. This bell has its own Conn hard case. With the recording bell in place the tuba is classed as a 24J. The body of the instrument is in a {seller made} fully insulated fibreglass case which is about half the weight of the original wooden Conn case. It has wheels for easier transportation.All in all the instrument is in very good condition.{see all pictures} It plays superbly and the sound is phenominal. The main reason for sale is the seller’s age and the need to get something smaller and lighter. A suitable mouthpiece is included with the sale.Because of its size and weight ‘pick up only’ is being specified but the seller is prepared to travel a reasonable distance to meet a prospective buyer, alternatively the tuba can be packaged up for collection by a buyers courier as long as a mutual returns policy can be agreed. In essence the instrument is sold as a no return item; ;
