Folks, I have for sale a new 5 string electric mandolin built by myself in my Devon workshop, you can find out more about me at or else look up "Tavy" on the . The instrument is designed for CGDAE mandola+mandolin tuning, you can see and hear it in the : Instrument Details Hollow mahogany body, with solid spruce top veneered with burr walnut. 3 piece Mahogany neck with non-adjustable carbon fibre truss rod. Burr walnut headstock overlay. Rosewood fretboard, 22 EVO Gold frets (.080x.040") with brass fret markers. The fret markers are coated with a dash of EnduroVar to stop them tarnishing over time. The EVO gold fretwire is rumoured to last longer than stainless steal frets in actual use: whatever, it should take a lot of use before it ever needs a refret. Nut width (over 5 courses) is 34mm, with 20mm neck depth at nut and soft-V profile. Seymour Duncan hot rails pickup, Fender (CTS) pots with volume and treble cut controls, plus series/parallel/single coil switch. Standard adjustable mandolin bridge, with pin string fitting for easy string changes (ball end strings). Strings are earthed via a brass bridge plate inside the instrument. EnduroVar semi-gloss finish - a hard durable finish that should stand the test of time. Set up with Newtone nickel wound strings, .011" top e down to .056" bottom C. Action is a shade under .050" (1.25mm) on the top e, rising to a shade over .070" (1.75mm) on that chunky bottom C. This is a "vegan" model with no animal products used in it's construction - most notably mother of Pearl - this is principally to ensure smooth passage through customs should it be required. Instrument comes in a new . Limited lifetime warranty to original owner (details on request). The not so small print Overseas bidders are welcome - I've set a "notional" cost of worldwide postage, but please wait for me to get a firm postage quote before paying and I'll ship at cost. Note that most international carriers exclude musical instruments from their insurance cover, so shipping is at the buyers own risk. Potential US customers should note the for customs officials to seize musical instruments at port of entry. In theory both antique and personal shipments are exempt, and so far everything I've sent to the US has got through OK. But please do read up on before purchasing as only the importer can take responsibility for customs issues. If in any event you're not completely happy with the instrument, I'll accept a "no quibble" return and refund the full auction cost, but not the postage.
