Great Banjo Sound! Our research on this banjo unearthed the 1976 Alvarez catalog, revealing this to be a No. 4289 Minstrel banjo. While the times may have changed, good quality and attention to detail is still appreciated today. This Alvarez banjo is a traditional 5 string banjo with a heavy, vented tone ring of bell brass for clear, sparkling projection. It has the traditional scroll headpiece with Mother of Pearl inlay.  It boasts a bound Rosewood resonator with 24 brackets, along with the bound fretboard featuring Pearloid bow tie inlays. The neck is made of Mah and has side of neck fretboard markers. This is a comfortable to play neck with an exposed volute, adjustable neck rod and precision geared pegs. Our In-house tech changed out the strings and gave this banjo a full inspection. We took many detailed pictures, so take a minute to look through and appreciate the beauty in this banjo, from the heastock to the beautiful etching on the armrest and tailpiece.
