A fine antique french violin, circle of Didier Nicolas Ainé made circa 1830. Good antique french violin of the circle of Didier Nicolas Ainé made circa 1830. The top is made of a single piece of spruce, the grain widening towards its center. The back is made of an handsome single piece of very nicely flamed maple, the curl horizontal. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The varnish is of a delicate brown colour. The instrument shows strong relations with the work of Didier Nicolas Ainé, and has the noticeable f holes of this master.The violin is in a restored condition, with some important repairs at the upper right of the back, communicating to the rib. The work has been properly done and the cracks are now well secured, showing the value of the instrument to the eyes of the repairer or the owner who brought it for repair at the time. There is a tiny f hole crack at the lower right f hole stopped by purfling.The violin has been revised and set-up, including a rosewood tailpiece with bone fret, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant new strings set. The chinrest is lacking on the pictures as we did not receive them on time, but has been put on the instrument since. The ebony pegs fit but are quite big, but fit nicely. The fingerboard is original.The sound is extremely warm, deep, with a good power, and with baroque accents : a fine concert instrument that you will love. Due to its condition we set it at a very reasonable price, don't miss it !Dimensions are the following :LOB : 364 mm.Upper bouts : 171 mm.Middle bouts : 117 mm.Lower bouts : 211 mm.The instrument comes with a new rectangular case.
