Description
Brand: Recording King

This is a 1938 Recording King AB-104 Roy Smeck lap steel guitar in very good condition. This guitar was made by Gibson and was sold under the Recording King brand name through the Montgomery Ward catalog. This model is very similar to the Gibson EH-150 lap steel and features a hollow flamed maple body with a great sounding version of the Gibson "Charlie Christian" single coil pickup with volume and tone controls. Considering its age, this guitar is in really excellent shape with no breaks or replaced parts. It is all original to the best of my knowledge. The sunburst finish over the flamed maple is truly beautiful. The case is not the original case, but is a Geib "Masterbilt" lap steel case (1950s?).  It plays great (I have played it in open G tuning) and the pickup sounds great with quite strong output. The electronics work as they should with no static, popping or other issues. There are a couple of small dings on the back but nothing major.  Please see the pictures and feel free to ask me any questions you may have before bidding. I have loved owning and playing this guitar, but I have too many instruments. This one deserves to be enjoyed and played, so it's up for bids.  No reserve auction. I have done my best to describe this rare and wonderful instrument, but please feel free to ask questions or request additional photos and I will get back to you quickly. Thank you.  U.S. shipping only by USPS (please see options in shipping to your zip code below).
