Description
Brand: Leedy Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Exact Year: 1955

For sale is a very rare Chicago made 1955 Leedy "New Era" drum kit in white marine pearl. This was a catalog kit, i.e it was sold as a 3 piece kit.  It has a 14x20  kick, 8x12 rack tom and 4.5x14 snare. This kit came from the original owner and looks to have spent its entire life inside and pampered. Has the original two cymbal L-arm mounts on the bass drum and the original small wrench/tool for the tom rail mount.  Chrome is excellent. Wrap is tight. Also has the rare brass Leedy badges on all drums. No extra holes.  The only thing worth mentioning is the threads are loose on one of the wing nuts on the L-arm mount so there is a regular nut on top of the wing nut/bolt to securely tighten the L-arm in the bracket.  Works fine like this but thought I should mention it.  These drums are the wonderful mahogany/poplar/mahogany 3 ply shells. The white marine pearl has developed a nice creaminess that is consistent across all the drums. Very well cared for and outstanding sounding drum kit. Great for the collector or player. "Note--the snare stand you see in the photos is not included. It's only for display purposes to hold the snare for photos. Everything else you see in the photos is included in the sale.I put all new Remo heads on the kit (top and bottom) on all the drums a few months ago and they have a some play wear as shown in the photos.  The batter side head on the kick is a Remo Power Stroke Pro.
I know where there is a matching 16x16 floor tom that the original owner of this kit purchased back in 1956.  If you're interested I can give you the name of the drum dealer that has it for sale.
Drums will be professional packed in appropriate drum shipping boxes and shipped FedEx.Please feel free to ask me any questions or feel free to make reasonable offers.
