LOVELY 1970 GIBSON HUMMINGBIRD ACOUSTIC GUITARThis is a beautiful example of GIBSON's great KALAMAZOO BUILT acoustic instruments. It sounds great, plays great and has the kind of finish that you just can't get in a newer instrument. The guitar has quite low action, the neck is very straight, and the truss rod is smooth and healthy. She has been very nicely cared for, however this instrument has been played. She was at one point outfitted with a pair of pickups. A typical acoustic sound-hole transducer that was directed to a 1/4 inch jack and a Telecaster neck pick-up that was sent, by way of a volume control, to a second 1/4 inch jack. Both jacks were on the lower side of the instrument (see photos) and the volume pot was discreetly placed at the back of the pick guard. The pickups were installed with NO SCREWS or ALTERATIONS to the instrument. They were installed using friction only. The output jacks and volume pot holes have been plugged with vinyl inserts that can be easily removed. This period included the lovely herringbone inlay down the center of the back. This is a great instrument in every way, in particular if you are looking in the mid-priced range for a serious instrument. She will ship in a medium weight case (carefully boxed) that fits perfectly, however, the case, in my opinion, is not heavy enough to send through airline baggage.PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS SOONER THAN LATER.ADVISEMENTS WELCOMED.
