Vintage King H. N. White Altonium Marching French Horn! Model Number: 1146 Key: F with Eb Slide Change (Pictured). Serial Number: 418011 Crafted in 1965. Finish: Clear baked on lacquer. King Altonium Background: The alto-tone of the Altonium adds sparkle and brilliance in the open air. It blends in the perfectly with the other bell-front brasses and brings out the usually weak inner voices. The Altonium is the perfect marching substitute for the French Horn. The tone is rich and mellow yet possesses much power and resonance. With a mouthpiece about twice as large as the French Horn, it does not require as delicate embouchure and produces a good tone even with a fast cadence. Even today this Altonium is so much easier to carry than a modern marching French horn. This Altonium has been restored. The finish is new, clear baked on lacquer. We chose baked on lacquer for its durability over normal spray lacquer. Overall, the body of this King Altonium is in great shape and has some very small scratches. All slides operate smoothly and "pop" when you remove them. The valves are superfast (like new) with no apparent loss of air pressure. All slides and valves are stamped with the appropriately matched serial numbers. · This Altonium has new baked on lacquer which is (99.9% perfect). · The engraving is crisp and easy to see. · The Altonium is in great shape and has some small scratches. · There are no dents. · All slides operate smoothly. · The valves are superfast (like new) with no apparent loss of air pressure. · All slides are stamped with the appropriately matched serial numbers. · The King Altonium comes with HN White made case.
