(re-upping these as the guy who won them previously turned out to be a scammer)Here we have a pair of Schoeps style mics which have been heavily modified.I started with a pair of MXL mics.... 990 style although I don't know the exact model number. In any case, bothemploy the same Schoeps transformerless circuit.I've modded the internal components, replaced the capsules and painted the bodies an attractive blue using highquality automobile paint. The capsules are a Matched pair of RK-47's from Microphone parts... cost $399As stated, the internal circuit has been upgraded and the original Fets were replaced with a matching pair.As well, the headbasket mod was done, resulting in a very open sound. As a warning though... although improvingthe sound, the cost of that mod is that the capsule is incredibly sensitive to plosives. If you're going to use them for vocals, I would suggest a good pop filter.Looking at cost, what I've done is exactly the same a the Michael Joly mod (Octavamod) and done a paint job as well.So a pair of 990's would cost you about $160 + shipping. Mr. Joly charges $329 to mod a 990, and then you've got two more shipping charges. So that's a grand total of $818... not including shipping charges. But that $818 is NOT for a matched pair!!!In any case, this is a pair of nice little mics that somebody will get years of use and abuse from.Included: screw in stand mountsJust a little bit about me.... I've been making and modding professional audio gear for roughly 15 years. I take greatpride in my craftsmanship and attention to detail :)
