Very Early Deering Maple Blossom 5 Banjo w Case: First, Though I have been around music much of my life, I have little real knowledge of the banjo family. I will share what I know and what I do not and welcome any and all help from those of you who know better :-). I have been on Ebay 20 years and sold some 15000 better musical instruments. I try and shoot straight. OK, there is a bit of correspondence inside that suggests it is one of the first 250 maple blossoms. I know that means nothing in and of itself but that is where I started. The neck and headstock look just like most pics I can find of standard Maples but the Flange looks like a Boston model ( I believe the Boston model flange was one of Deerings first offerings). The tailpiece also looks like a standard model from the time. The resonator however is more fancy than any Maple Blossom I could find from the time other than obvious custom orders? It features two circles of inlaid checks, very intricate and nicely done. Two of the tuners do not match. Weighs just under 12 lbs its self (apx 24 well packed).One last, though the ribbon is across the Headstock top, there is no DEERING within?? That all said, let me know if I am wrong or snap it up have a cool piece. As the pictures show, she has been played and there is much surface wear on the back of the neck. Frets and fretboard are nice and no warp to the neck. The head is stretched and dirty and it needs replacement. I have not even cleaned it yet so figure a good cleaning and setup. Including 2 new sets of D’Adario strings (1) 9-9 and (1) 10-10 so you will have your preference. Includes what may be its original hardcase in fair-good condition (protects well with good hardware but shows much wear). Again, let me know if I am wrong and I will amend the description. As with all our fine instruments, we understand the bond between player and instrument and always offer a 14 day play/return policy with No restocking fee.
