Up for auction is a vintage (serial number 580608) Holton H-179 "Farkas" Double French Horn. This instrument was developed and designed with the help of Philip Farkas. It is a solid nickel silver Kruspe wrap symphonic double horn. It is in very good condition, and plays very well. The valves move well and have excellent compression. The slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a few small pings, and some scratching and etching throughout the horn. The bell shows some evidence of dent removal as well as pitting and scratching inside the bell flare. The engraving on the bell reads "Holton Elkhorn Wis." and the leadpipe reads "Holton USA H179". The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wipes off then the horn will develop a lovely patina.
