Description
I know absolutely nothing about accordions. This belonged to my husband's father. He played it in a band in Scotland when my husband was a boy, probably in the '50s and '60s as my husband was born in the early '60s. They played in the same band as my husband grew up and played the pipes. They were both active in the local band well into the '80s in Glasgow. Before my husband passed away, my father-in-law brought this accordion from Scotland to make sure it got to him. They both agreed that is was a really nice accordion and quite valuable, and therefore worth the expense to bring it to America. I found the same one being sold here on eBay about 8 months ago, exactly the same one, and it sold for over $2600. The seller was obviously a dealer and knew how to describe it, but I don't have that ability. You will have to look closely at the photos and ask any questions before bidding, but this is a chance for you to get a really good quality instrument for a reasonable price. I wish I could better represent this item, but I am not even aware of the correct way to put the darn thing on.It comes with a giant hard fitted case. The interior is shown and in good shape as you can see from the photos. There is a damp odor as it was stored for some time, probably ten years. As you can see from the photos, the red strap looks brand new and unused, but there is some damage to the corner of the bottom strap. Because they do not match I believe it was replaced and almost remember my father-in-law saying he had some work done to it before making the trip with it on the plane. There is also some dust or something in the folds of (I think it's called) the bellows. It appears to wipe away easily, but I have not done so because I want the buyer to know exactly what they are getting. There are no rips, tears or holes in the 'bellows'. I have examined it closely, between each and every fold.International shipping would be too costly for this item and is not offered. I will accept returns only if I grossly misrepresent an item. I will refund the purchase price only once the item is returned.
