This 1925 vintage Bacon & Day Silver Bell model tenor banjo is a true professional banjo from the golden age of tenor banjos. Its serial number is 18716 and is an extremely collectable example.. It has been seldom played in its life and shows like when it was initially purchased in 1927. It is a "never been restored" original, that has spent most of its life in its case in a proper temperature and humidity controlled environment. It can definitely be catagorized as a museum piece. It is the popular 19 fret model equipped with a functional soft pedal located on the side of the banjo pot. The true and straight maple neck, frets and ebony fingerboard are flawless with no visable wear or scratches. Same for the maple wood resonator. The head stock is beautifully inlaid with pearl with the B&D and Silver Bell logo. It has the original Oettinger finger style tailpiece and GROVERPAT reduction geared tuners with ivoroid buttons. As typical of all Silver Bell model banjos, it plays loud and true. The original black hardshell case is included. After a day on eBay, I was informed that the Serial Number on this banjo dates this banjo as a 1925 manufacture rather than the 1927 date I originally listed.
