From Guitarcenter.com:
Gibson replaced the Les Paul that had been in production since 1950 with a new Les Paul model in 1961. The 1961 Les Paul featured a one-piece slim genuine mahogany body and Slim Taper neck, two cutaways resulting in small pointy horns, beveled edges and no more body binding. Les Paul was not enamored with the new guitar, and his name was removed in 1963 renamed "SG" (Solid Guitar). This Gibson SG Standard Reissue is a painstakenly built reproduction of the original, as made famous in the early days by great players like Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Angus Young, Frank Zappa, Jerry Garcia, Pete Townsend, Elliot Easton, Dickey Betts, and in recent years Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes among many other greats. Features/Upgrades:
Mahogany Body
24.75" Scale, SlimTaper Neck
Grover RotoGrip Locking TunersRS Guitarworks wiring harness and potsLindy Fralin Tru 60's pickupsTonepros Tune-o-Matic BridgeTonepros Aluminum Tailpiece
About this SG:
This SG is the closest you can get to sounding like a '60-'62 era Les Paul SG without breaking bank. It's tone was painstakingly recreated by Billy Compton at RS Guitarworks and it's the only guitar of mine he's worked on that he went out of his way to gush about (in terms of tone). I've used it as a studio weapon and for a couple of rehearsals; when not in use, it has been kept in its case in a climate controlled room; it's currently being stored in a climate controlled storage space. It's a great piece and is dying to be played on a full time basis. Comes with its original hardshell case and, as the photos show, is in fantastic near mint. Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to doing business!
