The Future Retro 512 Touch Keyboard is a new stage in the tradition of capactive touch keyboards for electronic music. With incredibly flexible built-in arpeggiator, sequencer, MIDI to CV conversion, MIDI to MIDI conversion and more, the FR 512 is a fantastic way to get expressive control of your performance rig or studio literally under your fingertips. The 512 can control an astonishing amount of gear. It offers MIDI output and control voltage & gate out over 1/8" jacks (with both protocols accessible simultaneously!). The scaling of the CV out is adjustable, making it compatible with nearly any analog synthesizer. The arpeggiator and sequencer are remarkably flexible, featuring user-definable rhythm patterns, note duration, sustain, and more. User-definable scales and chords offer further customization and area for experimentation. The Future Retro 512 can function as a MIDI to CV converter, even allowing for superimposition of its own system-specific settings on the outgoing CV. This means that incoming MIDI can be transposed at the keyboard or "quantized" to specific scales, clock divisions, etc. Another advanced feature of the 512 is its built in MIDI to MIDI conversion, by which incoming MIDI can also be reformatted with these same system-specific settings before heading to the MIDI OUT jack. Furthermore, the 512 offers a unique Poly MIDI out, with intelligent channel reassignment per note to control up to 16 monophonic MIDI devices simultaneously. All these features and more make the 512 an incredibly flexible and customizable interface for expressive performance. Whether at the center of a studio full of MIDI gear or a growing modular system, the 512 makes a fantastic addition to any setup. Features 29 capacitive keys with 9 octave selections, capactive pitch bend and modulation "sliders," & user definable touch response CV out over 1/8" for Clock, Gate, Key CV, Velocity, Touch, and Mod Wheel Scalable CV output for compatibility with standard 1V/octave response as well as more esoteric standards, including Buchla & EML 1.2V/octave and more Latchable arpeggiator with swing & tempo, definable rhythm patterns, direction, and more Flexible SH101-style sequencer with 145 writable pattern locations 28 User-definable scales allow experimental note-reassignment and "quantization" of the touch interface and incoming MIDI 28 User-definable chords of up to six notes with inversion for "one-finger" polyphony and alteration of incoming MIDI Octave, +/- semitone, and scalar transposition of touch interface or incoming MIDI Flexible glide settings for CV output Storable preferences include velocity & aftertouch curve/range, pitch bend range, pitch bend and mod wheel response times, and more All user-defined preferences, arpeggiator, sequencer, scale, and chord settings stored in EEPROM memory for reliable recall without the need for a backup battery 15V DC power supply included with unit |
