Schecter Stiletto Custom 5 5 String Bass I have a friend who swears by Schecter basses because he says they put more high quality components in them at an affordable price than the competition. Check out these features and see if you don't agree with him. You get a body made of Mahogany and with a maple top for great tone. The neck is made of 3 pieces of maple and 2 center strips of walnut. This well balanced combination of select wood takes the bright tones of maple and adds a dark tone from the walnut strips. The fingerboard is rosewood, a natural oily wood that is great for any surface that is going to have contact with the hands and fingers. The sound is richer than a maple fingerboard because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores. Schecter bass tuners provide high quality, precision tuning with minimum weight. Details include a 17:1 ratio, removable knobs, threaded peghole bushing, and a 13.6mm diameter peg hole. Electronics consists of EMG-40HZ pickups. This passive model features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. Using EMG's "CS" design (ceramic and steel), the resulting tone is much warmer as a result of the higher inductance of the steel, and thus has a smoother attack and a flatter high end. All of the HZ bass models feature solid bar magnets that cover the entire width of the strings so any string layout can be used. The high tech looking S-Tek bass bridge provides extra long string travel for precise intonation and the individual bridge saddles eliminate string "cross talk". What was refurbished on this bass?
The refurbisher did not find any issues with the bass, all they did was give it a set-up.
