I am the second owner of this guitar which was purchased new in 1940 by my Grandfather. Originally sunburst top and black back & sides, it was refinished in the early 70's because of some good sized scratches in the top courtesy of my precocious Uncle when he was a tyke. The serial # is FK-116, on the back of the headstock. No truss rod in this model, so allow some time for the neck to adjust if you buy it. I have the original tail piece and might have the tuners, but no guarantee. Here's what the folks at Gibson had to say when I inquired about the guitar back in 1998:Hi,It's from 1940.The only Kalamazoo model with tortoise binding would be the "Oriole" model, KGN-32, made from 1939-41.Kalamazoo was Gibson's in-house budget brand. The models were comparable to low-end and midline Gibsons (the L-50 was the Gibson equivalent to the KGN-32),except for the lack of an adjustable truss rod in the Kalamazoos.
