Ultra rare Les Paul case that first appeared in Gibsons 1972 catalog as an upgrade option for the 1954 Gibson Limited Edition "Black Beauty" Les Paul Custom Reissue and also the Reissue Les Paul Goldtop model. After slow sales Gibson decided to discontinue the case and use the remaining stock for the "THE LES PAUL" model released in 1976. Approximately 50-60 of the 71 THE LES PAUL models produced received this case before they were out of stock. I have been told by a former Gibson employee in the know, that the entire run of these cases totaled 100, making this one of the rarest Les Paul cases ever produced !Its also one of the most deluxe Gibson presentation grade cases with its double stitched leather exterior, an arched top, Gibson banner on the interior, and a "Artist Series" badge on the outside the case. This case is a must have if you own one one the THE LES PAUL's missing its case, or for the collector who has an early 70's Les Paul Black Beauty or Goldtop Reissue, or even the 20th Anniversary model... Its not perfect but 100% functional, and it has all it working hinges and latches. Its in very nice vintage condition cosmetically; especially considering its 44 years old !
