We bought this beautiful Selmer Series 10 Bb Clarinet from a restoration shop in England earlier this summer. It was for our son’s graduation this June. However, he has since quit band and wants to sell it to help get a car. The restoration included FULL STRIP DOWN,
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CLEAN OF BODYWORK,
POLISH ALL KEYWORK
CLEAN OUT ALL OLD OIL ON SHAFTS ETC
INTENSIVE OILING OF THE WOOD
CORRECT ANY ISSUES RELATING TO KEY HEIGHTS /POSITIONS ETC
CHECK / REPLACE SPRINGS AS REQUIRED,
REPLACE ALL ADJUSTMENT AND TENON CORKS
REPLACE ALL PADS WITH QUALITY LEATHER ( ACHIEVING EXCELLENT SEATING AND DURABILITY)
RE ASSEMBLE, OIL UP KEYWORK.
PLAY TEST It plays like a dream with smooth keying, excellent tone and tuning in all registers. The body is quality specially selected mature wood with no cracks or dings. Selmer Series 10 clarinets were produced during the 1970s as fully professional instruments to compete with the then industry standard Buffet R13. Constructed by hand to exacting tolerances with only the finest of materials, Selmer Paris created quite possibly the best clarinet to have been produced at the time of manufacture. These instruments are professional standard clarinets, capable of taking a player as far as one would could to go; to a performance diploma in clarinet or as principal clarinetist of a symphony orchestra. Similarly they are just as at home in the hand of a keen student upgrading to their first wooden instrument but looking for somewhat more than an intermediate instrument could offer.
