A fine 16. 3/4" viola made by Nate Tabor in Vienna Austria. I offer the following comments by the maker: Brothers Amati Viola 16″ 3/4 with Modern Setup. Although contralto violas are quite rare from such an early target period, the Fratelli Amati (Antonio Amati (ca. 1537–1607) and Girolamo Amati (ca. 1551–1630) likely produced more than the couple which survive today. For this very wide model viola there is certainly no lack of air volume and thus much depth and breadth to the final sound. I was after a true contralto tone with much focus and power, however sweetened by the height of typical Amati arching. Great care has been taken to make this a very comfortable instrument however with a corpus of 16.3/4 providing the perfect instrument for a modern soloist. The tone on this instrument is very responsive and surprisingly has no lack of projection and volume for an instrument with such high arching. Interested musicians may do a Google Search for Nate Tabor Viola and find a wealth of information, such as instrument making blogs, videos, and testimonials of talented musicians worldwide. Chagall Violins offers FREE shipping within the EU or UK - We also offer your 100% satisfaction, or money returned, so there is no risk to try this unique, handmade instrument.
