Psychedelic Machine Companion Shin-Ei (VINTAGE 1960's FUZZ-TREMOLO)

Vintage Companion Amplifier Psychedelic Machine designed by Fumio Mieda of Honey/Companion/Shin-ei in Japan in 1967, and produced in a very limited number between 1968-1971. This is the earliest production model of the Uni-Vibe and Super Fuzz effects circuits, together which comprise the two halves of this unit. It's not a clone or based-on those, this is in fact both of those full circuits together in the one housing. The two circuit halves were subsequently separated and rehoused in individual and more portable enclosures - as the Shin-ei Uni-Vibe (also as the Resly Tone and Vibra Chorus), and Shin-ei FY-6 Super Fuzz. An extremely rare effects unit - some estimates are that only around 80 total of these units were ever actually built, but I'm not certain of any documented figure. Australia was one of the only countries in the world to import some from Japan early on before they were discontinued and produced only in the separate pedal form. Control Layout The two sections are labelled as Mood (Uni-Vibe circuit) and Fuzz (Super Fuzz circuit); and each can be used individually, or combined. The Fuzz features two tone modes, plus Expander and Volume controls (the same controls as seen on the Super Fuzz FY-6). The Mood Adjuster section includes Tremolo, Vibrato and Duet (Uni-Vibe chorus sound) modes, each of which is controlled by a step-switch speed control for the repeats (1 second to 1/16th), plus Intensity (effect amount) and Volume knobs. The Fuzz and Mood sections are each on/off switchable via standard footswitch jack inputs on the front panel (footswitches not included). *This Unit has a few noticeable issues- 1.) Previous owner drilled a whole on face plate to add another feature but never completed 2.) Tremelo effect is slightly at low volume but is still present and works. Other than that this unit is fully functional and sounds amazing. An all in one trick pony. Must have for the collection. This was originally factory-built in Japan for operation at 240V, and is fitted with an Australian plug. A US/Japan plug 100/117V > 240V step up transformer will be included for countries that require it. Please ask any questions prior to purchasing.
