Description
Marque: - Sans marque/Générique -

BUCHLA format 227r SYSTEM INTERFACE *reproduction (not an original vintage Buchla module), compatible with vintage 200, "clones" and current 200e systems (without the preset capability of course)* Built by "r" himself, in great shape as shown in the photos. Comes with the input/output edge card PLEASE READ THE WHOLE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY : When 227r's were shipped out by the original maker (mostly sold as bare PCBs, except for probably just a handful of built modules, including this one), early DIY adopters performed a few fixes and fine tuning on their copy, with information on the process being subsequently shared online with other fellow builders. This one however has seemingly remained in the initial state, hence the very attractive price (at the very least 1000€ below what it would normally sell for). Nevertheless it definitely works as is, almost to full capacity, except for the few following issues :  -  The dedicated circuit itself works but an actual reverb tank was never installed. As I understand it, the routing options via the in/out card also allow you to insert an external reverb which is probably why the previous owner didn't bother with that. Anyway I'm including a brand new Accutronics 1BC2E reverb tank in the listing, along with a full box of 200 (of which you will only need 4 !) various sized springs to attach the floating tank to the board, behind the meters. This one additional build is basically a matter of connecting 4 wires and positionning the tank and springs to your liking (two different locations are suggested) using cheap common parts. - A couple of outputs channels are inverted. Unless one decides to fix it later, it is a rather simple matter of getting used to which is which while operating it. - The VU meters could be calibrated better. Since I do not have the technical abilities myself, nor did I ever go deep into its functionalities, I can't be much more specific than that, nor can I troubleshoot it with minute accuracy. Therefore, it is of course sold AS IS but, to my knowledge and that of the more experienced previous owner, it is in good working condition apart from those issues.  Although the issues don't really get in the way of using every function (except reverb), this one module would perhaps appeal especially to someone with DIY skills, that could likely perfect it themselves at virtually no cost (except for time spent on it). Besides, I'm happy to redirect buyers (before or after purchase) to message boards and websites where the build and fixes are documented. I just realized that, although it is definitely the best looking 200 module, I don't need the quadraphonic panning nor all the numerous auxiliary tracks and complex routing options it offers for full external gear/studio integration. I basically never even tried to fully understand it beyond basic internal mixing, so I'd rather save some case real estate and let it go at a fair price than spend extra time and money having it optimized. It is a RARE, massive 4U module, reportedly a very complex build, includes 36 vactrols and uses some parts that are hard to source and very expensive, especially the Meters. So wether one is happy to use it as is,or willing to fix the issues, adding up parts cost and build time saving alone makes the price offered here a bargain. Will be packed very securely.
