Gibson PB-1 Plectrum Banjo 1928 VGC Refin Plays Great Tenor VINTAGE 5-string MOD

This Gibson has been in the family since it was new and has the original case. It had some work done in the 70's, which was a refinish of the neck, refret with new binding on the neck only and the headstock, which was originally a screen painted Gibson logo, was pretty much gone at the time. It was done professionally to get it back to attractive playing condition... and it is a nice playing instrument now with no issues or need for setup, and allegedly is the same scale, number of frets and tuned like a 5-string... so, possible conversion for 5-string on this one? It plays very nice and I've included pics inside and out to show all of the parts and verify the age and make. Original sealed machine style tuners, two of the original thumb screws are present. I checked the serial number and it dates the banjo between 1927-1929, and I believe it is the 14th made in this time period, so it probably dates from around 1928... the serial # printed in the pot is #9293-14 as stamped in the side. The nickel silver plated parts all look great, the tension lugs are all there and complete, there are no cracks in the shell. This model used a rolled brass ring between the shell and the head/skin. It's an attractive vintage instrument, made by the best at the time, and while a classy vintage piece, it's not so pristine that you would feel bad modifying it to fit your needs or turning it into a stage axe! It's a very cool, very old, solid player, and has all the parts and options you want to be there, to make it a great deal for the playing musician! I am not a banjo expert and my knowledge stated here is from people that I've talked with and my own research, but will answer any and all questions to the best of my knowledge. Thanks for looking and bid with confidence. This is a great instrument, made for playing! I recorded a demo with this banjo last year and that demo was mailed to Paramount records, who returned the demo with a record contract! Here is the song I used it on. Notice the instrumentation on the song is simply Banjo, Bass and Drums... (electric guitar solo in the middle, all tracks by myself aside from lead vocals). Enjoy!
