Up for Sale is a Music Man Axis Sport Solid body Electric Guitar. This thing is beautiful in every way. Its my nicest guitar Ive owned, but I can only keep a couple guitars and my other two guitars have sentimental value that keeps me from selling them. It is during the Ernie Ball era, but is based off of the original Leo Fender designed ones. It has active circuitry, but it doesn't sound active since it has alnico 3 pickups (non active) but an added preamp circuitry similar to the Eric Clapton Stratocasters. It takes a 9 volt battery for the preamp, but it would last me a year easy when I was in a band. The pickups are crystal clear and sound somewhere between a strat and that rounded in between tele glassy tone, but with nice high output because of the preamp. The humbucker also signs when overdriven. Everything is very solid, and it was well maintained. There are only a few small blemishes. There is a little chip in the finish (pictured at the end of the roll of pics) and there are two stress fractures in the laqcuer around the neck from when the finish was still curing (it had them straight from the guitar shop). I took it to a luthier and he said they were minor and did not go through all the way to the wood. It is made of ash (bookmatched), with a really nice grain (see pics 4 and 8). It has a nice tremolo, and the locking tuners are top notch. It has been professionally set up. The truss rod adjustment on music man guitars is a great easy access design below the neck (theres a wheel you just spin). These guitars are pretty rare because they were a transition from the Axis model, which are like strats and arent as fancy, and then the Axis Super Sport which are hum hum like a Les Paul and fancier with maple tops and binding (they are $1800+ guitars). This was a $1600+ guitar retail. I hate to see this one go, but I could use the money, so I will consider Reasonable offers.
