Description
Brand: Selmer Instrument: Saxophones

Here we have an early, rare specimen of a Selmer soprano mouthpiece. Made before than the Soloist and even the Air Flow models, it has the almost shank-less design of the earliest H. Selmer mouthpieces of the 1920s but features the wreath logo instead of the oval. Not many were made like this and this one survives in brilliant shape. I purchased it in 2012 at which point, it had already passed through the hands of one Norbert Stachel who did beautiful work refacing the mouthpiece to a very comfortable modern 0.066" which feels like it's right in the sweet spot for this mouthpiece. Check out the clean, even rails and wide open round chamber! It's all there in the photos. The mouthpiece responds evenly and cleanly all the way up and down and projects a beautifully warm, full, clear sound. The low end is particularly fat and round. If you know how intonation can sometimes feel on a larger chamber soprano piece, this will feel easy. My search for my preferred soprano sound ended here; I'm selling it because I stopped playing soprano to focus solely on tenor. No reason to hold on to this fine mouthpiece when someone else could be actually playing it. For clarity, this auction includes the mouthpiece pictured as well as the nameless ligature that fits it perfectly. -------------------------------------------------- Ships insured to the contiguous US48 for $12; buyers in other locations should contact me prior to purchase. As always, I am happy to answer any questions about this mouthpiece to the best of my ability. Thank you for looking and reading.
