1968 Hofner 500/1 Electric Violin Bass - Sunburst w/ Case
Item Description
1968 Hofner 500/1 Violin Electric Bass in good condition with light playwear, some dents, dings and finish checking. Nice sunburst finish on the spruce top and flame maple sides and back with white binding. The pickguard has been removed and is not included. The bass has a nice action and the maple neck with a bound rosewood fretboard has a great feel. The frets are in very good condition with only mild fretwear. The pickups are the higher output bar blade style. They have a great tone with good output. The neck heel is rounded and does not have a cap. The bass is equipped with an ebony bridge and enclosed gear covered tuners. Currently the bass is strung with flatwound strings. This bass plays nice and has a great tone (just like the tone you've heard on a lot of Beatles recordings) Includes a hard shell case. Made in Germany by Hofner.   Weight:     4 lbs.   14 oz. Many players revere Höfner’s Violin Bass as a legend because of its historical significance and its warm, woody, double-bass-like amplified tone. The Höfner Violin Bass is a unique instrument with a smooth, sweet sound and a playing ease that simply eludes most ordinary basses. In 1956, Walter Höfner had an idea for a violin shaped semi-acoustic bass. Launched at that years Frankfurt Music Show, his idea revolutionized popular music. And, with continuous production from 1956, this bass is one of the few guitars available today that can trace it's origins back to the very beginning of Rock 'n' Roll. Specifications:
