Straight from our brass (and silver) instrument repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked. Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in good playable condition. We are proud to offer this refurbished instrument for sale. We have tried to describe it as it is, but are happy to answer any questions asked. #83/2016Up for sale is a late 1950's FE Olds & Son 'Super' Tenor Professional Trombone. Manufactured in Los Angeles, California USA. Dual slide bore .485/.500, with a 7 1/2" diameter bell flare. It is made of brass, nickel silver and 'bell bronze' . There are a few small 'dings', minimal scratching and light pitting at the slide grips. The slide action is very good with good compression. The slide has been cleaned and honed; any residual slight whisper effect will improve with use and play. There is light wear-through at the top of the stockings and one small finger-sized flake at the end of the slide tube, but action is smooth. There is a small indent in one slide (see picture); it was not removed because it does not but affect the slide playability. This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished every few months, if played often (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish). This trombone comes with a mouthpiece and is shipped in a used case. This horn has a very fast response, excellent intonation and a great tone...very powerful. The Olds Super is regarded by many as one of the best jazz or solo horns ever made. This particular Super plays very well and does everything well; light or delicate or lots of power.
